Convenient Motor Vehicle Registration Locations The Anderson County Clerk now offers several convenient locations that handle motor vehicle registration. There are now convenient drive thru locations and many renewals can now be processed from the comfort of your easy chair with our convenient Online Renewal Service.  
To title and register your new vehicle, you will need to submit to your resident county clerk the following:  
•Manufacturer's Statement of Origin
•The new vehicle's invoice
•A copy of your current registration if transferring your license plate

Business Tax Information Notice! On January First 2010, all business license holders will need to Renew their licenses through the Department of Revenue of the state of Tennessee. Businesses with questions may call the Tennessee Department of Revenue at 865-594-6101.  A Business License form may be downloaded here  

After the first 30 days of operation, a new business has an additional 30 days to obtain a license. The fee for a business license is $15.00. Applications can be completed in the County Clerk's office or by mail.   Learn more >>

So, You Are Getting Married... Congratulations! During the hustle of getting ready for your nuptials we want to make the "business end" of getting ready for your special day easier. You can now apply for your Marriage License Online. Or you can use one of our many convenient office locations.

Premarital Counseling is recommended.

Cost is $40.00 with premarital counseling or $100.00 without premarital counseling.

Copies of Marriage Certificates may be obtained at the County Clerk's office or by mail for $5.00 each.

Currently we offer online vehicle plate renewals, business tax renewals, notary applications and marriage applications. Other services will be coming soon.

About Us

The County Clerk Office performs various functions of county business. The duties of the office range from Clerk to the County Commission, title and registration, business tax, motel-hotel tax, marriage license, genealogy research, boat and water vessel tax, beer applications, beer annual tax, mail in renewals for license tags, notary applications, and Tennessee Manufacturing Housing Installation Decals to conducting a great deal of the State's taxation duties within the county.

chdrivethruJeff Cole, Anderson County Clerk, and Rodney Archer, County Trustee, are pleased to offer a drive thru window across from the courthouse in Clinton. The drive thru window will handle express service of car tag renewals and handicap renewals and placards. The Trustee will receive property tax payments by check, cash or credit card. The drive thru window will be open Monday through Friday from 8-5. “There is only a handful of County Clerk’s and Trustees in the state who offer drive thru service and we are pleased to be among the first to pioneer this express service to our citizens here in Anderson County.” Offering this service will help cut down lines in the main office and help citizens get their needs met more quickly.
